Business Development
· Developed relationships with some of the country’s largest providers such as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange “CME” and Navteq to provide staffing and software quality assurance services · Worked with industry leaders providing contract negotiation and consulting services · Worked with government agencies to drive adoption and acceptance of industry-leading benchmarking products · Partnered with great software and hardware companies to produce the best products in the industry
Product Development
· Introduced and implemented industry-first Business Intelligence—customer facing analytics website. This website introduces our customers, for the first time, to advanced business analytics software. 6 month effort from project kick-off to demonstration of product at industry convention. Results: 2012 MHN Technology winner, significant improvement in company image as leading service provider and increased customer retention/acquisition. · Designed, developed and implemented industry-leading analytical product for the multi-family industry. 90 day agile development process. Developed in conjunction with a major academic organization and presented to government agencies to gain acceptance. Responsible for ground-up design — from database to User Interface to educational videos. · Led company’s re-entry into the GPS navigation market. Led team through 45 day cycle and introduced the first working prototype displayed at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show. Results: Strong, positive press coverage of new GPS. The IntelliRoute TND 500 GPS was released in Fall 2009. It has garnered the new product innovation award in several venues including CES Best of Innovation for 2010. Case study: Rand McNally Intelliroute TND GPS · Selected and implemented technology for award-winning web sites and products, including CustomView Wall Maps, randmcnally.com, randmcnallyclassroom.com and Rand McNally Kiosk. Results: Sites and products under my responsibility represented 20%+ of company revenue. Delivered 400 million pages/year. Reduced costs of operating websites by more than 80%. Awarded U.S. Patent 7,274,378. Filed U.S. Patent applications 20070038367 (route system) and 20080249657 (greeting card system). Case study: Kiosk System · Championed and launched Rand McNally’s award-winning wireless phone software line. Identified development partners and designed software. Results: Number one branded maps/navigation software on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon at the same time. · Designed, developed, and deployed a new mapping development platform, MapEngine, a software-as-a-service product. Results: Order of magnitude reduction in development effort required to develop new products. MapEngine was selected by FedEx to provide address mapping accuracy that Google, Navteq and others could not achieve. Enabled development of kiosk product in under seven weeks. · Chosen by ownership to explore opportunities to build new businesses in China. Results: Travel and relationship building with Chinese business and government entities. Establishment of business plan and partnership with sister company. · Embraced Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to bring visibility to website. Led senior management through understanding the value of SEO. Results: 1st page search results on Google and Yahoo for most of the optimized pages.
Back Office / Operations

· Introduced Agile development methodologies and internal process control. Results: From chaos comes organization! · Identified and implemented new ways to decrease the company’s dependence on legacy print technologies. Results: Short term reduction of obsolete stock by more than 40%. · Designed, developed and deployed multiple back-office productivity tools, which includes field sales force automation, inventory forecasting and planning, decision support, ERP, Point of Sale, EDI . Results: Saved $100 million, increased sales force productivity by over 100%, and enabled the company to reduce inventory by over 70% (LEAN) and avoid millions in obsolete stock charges. Technologies supported over 50,000 retail locations, 50 company operated stores and a sales force making over 400,000 merchandising stops / year. Case study: MapTrac sales force automation · Led research, evaluation and selection of new ERP system. Results: Microsoft Dynamics AX selected and implemented resulting in significant efficiency gains for the company. · Integrated acquisitions of Thomas Bros. Maps and King of the Road Maps within 60 days. · Designed and built multiple new data rooms for corporate moves. Results: Reduced 9,000 sq. ft. space into a 1,200 sq. ft “lights-out” facility with significant reduction in HVAC, power consumption, staffing requirements while increasing stability of the facilities. Integrated private cloud services with lights-out server room. · Defined new business processes. Directed $17 million project involving the rollout and integration of new third generation IBM Point of Sale equipment, AS/400 and Hyperion decision support systems. Results: Rollout set new industry records for speed and quality and beat first year initial return estimates by over 25%. · Replaced in-house ecommerce system with best-of-breed system in 6 months. Results: Conversion rate increased by 50% and check average increased by more than 20%. Cost of system maintenance reduced by more than 40%.
